New Twitter for Windows 10 users is launched


LO-store-3_1Windows 10 launched on July 29, and with that Microsoft also announced the availability of Office Mobile apps. Moreover, other launches are also expected from the web world for the newly launched operating system. Now Windows users will have a new experience while accessing Twitter. This new optimization is done especially for Twitter users on Windows 10.

As stated by David, Product Manager via a blog post:

The new Twitter for Windows 10 is a Universal Windows Application that gives you instant access to top Tweets, photos and videos without requiring a login. You’ll also see Tweets right out of the box in live tiles from the Start menu.

Microsoft launches Office Mobile Apps for Windows 10


Image_OfficeDevices_500x254Microsoft has released Windows 10 and now you can download it. Also, upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 will now be possible in 190 countries. With its release Microsoft also announced the availability of the Office Mobile apps.

Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president for the Office Client Applications and Services team stated via a blog post.

The Office Mobile apps—Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote—are built from the ground up for touch, offer the familiar experience that Office customers expect, and deliver the capabilities people need for on-the-go productivity on Windows 10 tablets and small screen devices. Across each of the apps, customers will appreciate full fidelity viewing of their Office documents, knowing edits and changes made on any device will render perfectly across all their devices. Tightly integrated with OneDrive, the Office Mobile apps are fully cloud connected, making it easy to access your documents from anywhere, pick up where you last left off, and co-author with others on documents and projects. Your docs are now automatically saved for you, ensuring you won’t lose a change and that others can see your edits as you work together. And there are new intelligent features, like Tell Me, that make it easier for you to do what you want in fewer steps.

Apple Music hits 10 Million Users in its first month


CaptureApple Music has more than 10 million users in its first month of free trial according to some source by hitsdailydouble.com. The website stated the source as “inside sources at some of the major labels.”

Apple Music is a music streaming service by Apple. It was first announced at WWDC 2015. It is a streaming music service like Apple’s former Beats Music service. Through this, users can listen to an unlimited amount of music for $9.99 per month. For a family plan you have to pay $14.99 that supports up to 6 listeners. However, currently the three months free trial is going on and it seems users love the service.

Apple Music was officially released last month.

Windows 10: India will have to wait for Microsoft’s Cortana


cortanahero+copyWindows users in India will have to wait for some more time for voice-activated digital assistant ‘Cortana’ as Microsoft is updating the software with “strong” local content.

Microsoft, which unveiled its much-awaited Windows 10 operating system globally and in-built Cortana today, has held back from launching the Siri’s (Apple) rival in India.

“Cortana will be made available to Insiders (developers with Microsoft) in the coming weeks and then later to consumers,” Microsoft India director (Windows Business Group) Vineet Durani told PTI.

Google pays tribute to Kalam with ‘black ribbon’


googleNEW DELHI: Internet search giant Google has paid a special homage to former president A P J Abdul Kalam by displaying a black ribbon on its homepage.

This solemn mark of respect is indicative of the universal appeal that Kalam had on people, especially with the youth, residents of small towns and urban folk.

Google is known for remembering past icons and marking important occasions and anniversaries through its characteristic doodles.

On Google’s home page, the black ribbon has been placed below the search tab, and on running the mouse, it reads, “In memory of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam“.

Tributes have been pouring in from home and abroad for India’s “missile man”, whose life inspired countless Indians.

Windows 10 free upgrade now available

Windows 10 is the result of feedback from five million Windows Insiders and has matured during nine months of public beta testing.

Google finally ‘admits’ Google Plus is a failure


GooglePlus-550x375SAN FRANCISCO : Google has said that it is throttling back on its vision of having profiles at its social network serve as people’s identities across its range of online offerings.

“Important changes” coming to Google+ in the months ahead will include users no longer needing an account at the social network to post videos or comments at YouTube.

“When we launched Google+, we set out to help people discover, share and connect across Google like they do in real life,” vice president of streams, photos and sharing Bradley Horowitz said in a blog post.

“While we got certain things right, we made a few choices that, in hindsight, we’ve needed to rethink.”

Google+ launched four years ago as a social network that could provide users a single identity to use across the California-based internet firm’s popular online services. (more…)
